Hodgkinson Concludes Campaign with Winning Display at Athlos in NYC
The athlete recorded her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds last year in the British capital.
The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap campaign with a triumph at the all-female Athlos event in New York on Friday night.
{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year impacted by a hamstring injury.
Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Bell finished second again in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua Maloney (1:58.57) secured third place.
"I've barely raced this season so it was likely less of a struggle for me to go out there and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.
"The environment at the event is crazy so it was really, really fun."
The women-only meet packed Icahn Stadium in its second edition, introducing a party atmosphere to traditional track, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.
The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian, was present to present the victors with their crowns.
Previous champions received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.
The event also drew several top athletes, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and global record breaker Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, finishing in 4:17.78.
The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, won the 100m and 200m double.
