19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks his first championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a third set.
Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
